GOP Primary Elections
Yesterday I told you how the GOP is poised to gain seats in November, with political momentum currently on their side.  However, a lot can happen in the next few months and some of that momentum could be squandered by primary candidates who turn out to be less than ideal. The biggest headline was the win for Thom Tillis in North Carolina's Republican senate nomination.  He beat out the tea party candidate, securing more than 40% of the vote. Tillis will go on to face Kay Hagan for North Carolina's senate seat.  This win is lending some big weight to the establishment GOP, according to political strategists.  Tillis' win has given momentum to the GOP establishment that is worried about being challenged by conservative tea party candidates.  At the end of the day, a win for Tillis against Kay Hagan would be a win for Republicans and another opposition vote to ObamaCare.  Even if establishment Republicans go on to win more nominations, it is still good for them to be challenged by other conservatives.  This will only help to push certain establishment candidates further toward their conservative opponents and it will mean that the message of conservationism is being heard by the voters through these political ads.

Lewinsky Tells All
The world's most infamous intern has publisheda piece in Vanity Fair.  Monica Lewinsky has broken her silence on her affair with president Bill Clinton. One of the excerpts reads in part: “Sure, my boss took advantage of me, but I will always remain firm on this point: it was a consensual relationship. Any ‘abuse’ came in the aftermath, when I was made a scapegoat in order to protect his powerful position. . . . The Clinton administration, the special prosecutor’s minions, the political operatives on both sides of the aisle, and the media were able to brand me. And that brand stuck, in part because it was imbued with power.” She says she deeply regrets what happened. People have been speculating as to the timing of the article's release and the true motivations behind finally telling all.  Some, like Lynne Cheney and others, think that releasing this information now will help to get it out of the way early in order to clear the path for Hillary to run in 2016.  Lewinsky herself claims that the timing of the piece was inspired by the tragic suicide of a Rutgers student who was caught kissing another man, and she wants to help those dealing with online harassment.  Whatever the case may be, Ms. Lewinksy has suffered enough at the hands of the Clinton political machine.
